Neuroradiology at Insel Gruppe
Neuroradiology in the medical division of Bern City Hospital/Landspitäler (MBSLS)
Neuroradiology was established as an independent field for the first time in this hospital group in December 2014 with the new appointment of the head physician positions in what was then the Bern Hospital Network (SNBe).
The former SNBe is now known as the Medical Division City Hospital/Land Hospitals (MBSLS); in organisational terms, neuroradiology is part of the University Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology (DIN).
Medical staff
Neuroradiology SLS is headed by Dr. Rubén Encinas, who reports directly to the Director of DIN. He alternates with the Head Physician of General Radiology SLS in the role of Managing Head Physician of the Institute of Radiology SLS.
The neuroradiology team is completed by Dr Tarja Lönnfors, Dr Anna Winklehner, Dr Alxandrine Bähler and Dr Andreina Pauli.
Technical equipment
DIN offers the entire spectrum of neuroradiological cross-sectional imaging diagnostics in the medical areas of the city hospital and the country hospitals (Aarberg and Riggisberg) on a total of three MR scanners (Aarberg 3 Tesla) and CTs at all locations.
The close cooperation with the Inselspital also allows us to offer special techniques within neuroradiological imaging at the SLS. For the latest cutting-edge medical imaging techniques (e.g. high-field 7 Tesla MRI or spectroscopy), our patients have quick and unbureaucratic access to the neuroradiology equipment at the Inselspital.
Service
The SLS neuroradiology team covers operations on working days from 7.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.; at night and at weekends, examinations are carried out by teleradiology at DIN/Inselspital, so that full neuroradiological care is guaranteed 24/7.
